ChipBoard Albums

Postby Kitty40 on Tue Aug 12, 2008 4:39 pm

I created my first scrapbook with chipboard. I covered it with paper and it turned out beautifully. It is a baby book that I am giving as a gift to my niece.

I used craft glue dots to secure the paper, but I wanted to know if there is something others use to secure the edges so the paper does not start to lift over time. I also covered a journal for her and I can see how the edges might start to wear over time with constant handling.

Any suggestions regarding adhesives would be helpful.

thanks

I use Mod Podge to adhere the paper to the chipboard, it usually holds up pretty well. I have a journal that I made a couple years ago and edges are still good.

i use a ton of atg (that's what's so nice about the amount of adhesive on one atg roll) and really go around every edge, right up to the edge, and then a couple of lines in the middle. then, i use the basic grey file set to sand the edges of the paper down around the edge of the chipboard a little. i only really have issues with the books that get handled a TON and even then, it's fix-able.

and my mod podge tip... if you are going to use the mod podge to seal the page on, make sure you are also using it to adhere the page. paper does not like to have some other adhesive behind it and then mod podge on top. : )

Thanks for the suggestions Shari and Miss Morgan...

Miss Morgan when are you in the store? I was in there a couple of weeks ago with the scrapbook to get some suggestions from you, but unfortunately you or Dawn wasn't there.

What days/hours are you in the office?
